A search here tends to come back in stages. An Anne Arundel County people search turns up a phone number or two first, then addresses stretching back years, and finally the public records filed under that name. Communities from Glen Burnie to the Chesapeake shoreline feed the local layer. Nationwide databases supply the rest, following people who moved beyond Maryland. Annapolis, the county seat, anchors much of the older material.

Anne Arundel People Records Offices

Maryland does not use a separate county recorder. The Clerk of the Circuit Court records deeds and liens, keeps court files, and handles marriage and business licenses. Probate belongs to the Register of Wills. Property assessment data comes from the state Department of Assessments and Taxation, while county GIS adds mapped parcels, zoning, districts, and development layers. These divisions matter because one Anne Arundel County records office cannot answer every people search.

The clerk handles a large flow each year: about 100,000 land records, 75,000 legal documents, 8,000 business licenses, and 5,000 marriage licenses. That scale makes exact identifiers vital. The detailed access rules and copy procedures sit with the relevant custodian, not with a catch-all county index.

Anne Arundel Deed Name Search

Recorded land papers offer one of the county's deepest name trails. MdLandRec is the official Judiciary and Maryland State Archives gateway, and it requires a free account. Search an established owner as a grantor, the person transferring an interest, or as a grantee, the person receiving one. Older entries may use initials, married names, abbreviations, or spellings that do not match a modern form.

The Anne Arundel County index reaches far beyond recent sales. County Court land books begin in 1653, an electronic index covers 1653 through 1839, and Circuit Court grantor and grantee indexes cover long later runs. Plats, which are recorded maps, use the separate Plats.net system. If the web record is unclear, the Land Records counter and Maryland State Archives provide the fallback.

The official land-record gateway shows the account route used to reach Maryland deed images:

Use the result's liber and folio, the deed book and page reference, to request a copy or certification from the clerk. Certification adds $5 per document.

Grantor
The person or entity conveying an interest in land.
Grantee
The person or entity receiving that interest.
Liber and folio
The deed book and page citation used to retrieve the instrument.
Plat
A recorded map showing lots, boundaries, or a subdivision.

Anne Arundel Address-to-Owner Search

The SDAT Real Property Search starts with Anne Arundel County and either a street address or property account identifier. It does not provide a public online search that takes a person's name and returns every property that person owns. Owner name is a result field. This distinction prevents a common dead end in an Anne Arundel County people lookup.

A parcel card can show the owner as stated on the latest recorded deed, mailing address, premises address, deed reference, legal description, map and parcel keys, subdivision and lot, values, transfer history, and building facts. Mailing address means the destination for assessment notices. Premises, or situs, address means the physical location. Those addresses may differ and prove different things.

Note: SDAT results are informational rather than legal documents; use the recorded deed when the exact ownership language matters.

Anne Arundel GIS People Trails

County mapping helps when an old street description, lot number, or development file does not fit the current address. The Anne Arundel County GIS hub links MyAnneArundel, planning viewers, development activity, and downloadable geographic data. It can connect a premise to its parcel, tax account, zoning area, council district, and nearby development activity.

The GIS applications and available layers are shown at the official county source:

This mapped context is most useful as a bridge. Carry the parcel key into SDAT, then carry the deed citation into MdLandRec. County Research and GIS also assigns and verifies street numbers. An address may change for public-safety reasons, so an old deed and a modern mailing label need not use the same street form.

Anne Arundel Court Name Lookup

The Maryland Judiciary Case Search and Record Portal provides free public summaries for District and Circuit matters. Anne Arundel Circuit civil coverage begins in 1991 and criminal coverage in 1989. District Court coverage varies by case type. The integrated portal launched on March 14, 2026, combining public Case Search with authorized record access while keeping the public-summary limits.

Name matching is exact by default. Add a percent sign after at least the first character of a last name for a partial match. A partial first name may also end in a percent sign. Results can show case number, name, date of birth, party type, court, case type, status, filing date, and caption.

The courthouse file is authoritative. Sealed, shielded, juvenile, adoption, and other protected matters do not appear. Some dismissed, acquitted, or older stet outcomes may vanish online while remaining open at the clerk counter. Public courthouse kiosks may also show electronic documents beyond the web summary.

Anne Arundel Probate People Search

The Register of Wills connects a decedent to an estate, personal representative, attorney, aliases, and docket activity. Its Estate Search covers statewide filings from 1998 forward. Search fields include estate number, last name with an exact-match option, county, first and middle names, status, filing date, estate type, and party type.

Basic docket details are free. Plain or PDF copies cost $0.50 per page. A certified copy adds $2, while an exemplified copy adds $6. For older Anne Arundel County people records, Archives series include wills indexes from 1777 through 1960, estate indexes from 1875 through 1960, and inventories and accounts-of-sale indexes reaching into the eighteenth century.

Probate can resolve identity when a deed says only “estate of,” when relatives need to trace heirs, or when a later conveyance refers to a deceased owner. Capture the estate number and filing date before contacting the Annapolis office. Email filings are not accepted, but the office accepts walk-ins within its posted intake hours.

Note: An estate docket identifies filings and parties; the underlying will, inventory, or account supplies the fuller family and property detail.

Anne Arundel Vital Records Search

Birth and death certificates come through the Maryland Department of Health Vital Statistics Administration or an eligible local channel. Anne Arundel marriage copies come from the Circuit Court clerk, while divorce pleadings and decrees remain court files. A state divorce verification only confirms facts. It is not the complete case record.

Recent certificates require identity, relationship, and other eligibility proof under Maryland law. State base fees are $10 for a birth certificate, $10 for a death certificate, $12 for a marriage certificate, and $12 for a divorce verification. Older Archives-held records follow a different line: births remain restricted for 100 years and deaths for 10 years, while Archives-held marriage licenses and absolute-divorce or annulment reports are unrestricted.

Historical Anne Arundel County research can move from a vital index into church, probate, cemetery, newspaper, or land evidence. The Archives catalog includes a Circuit Court birth series from 1804 through 1877. Search the index first, save its full citation, and then order or inspect the matching item through the proper channel.

Anne Arundel Business Name Lookup

Maryland Business Express searches all or part of an entity name. Results can lead to a Department ID, entity status, resident agent, filings, and personal-property material. It covers corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, professional corporations, and trade names. A resident agent is the person or firm designated to receive legal papers for the business.

Use an entity record to check whether a seller's claimed business name exists, identify the legal entity behind a trade style, or connect a business to a filing contact. The Circuit Court's local business license is a separate record. Professional credentials also remain separate and should be checked with the board that regulates the occupation.

Official records differ from compiled commercial listings. Government sources show the keeper, date, status, and record context. Commercial compilations may merge people with similar names or retain stale addresses.

Anne Arundel Voter Record Boundaries

Maryland's Voter Lookup is an identity-gated self-service tool, not an open surname directory. It asks for first and last name, date of birth, and ZIP, with optional street number and middle initial. A match can confirm registration, locate polling and district information, request a duplicate card, and check certain ballot statuses. The full voter file follows separate eligibility and electoral-purpose rules.

For individual voter-record mechanics, confidentiality, list maintenance, and aggregate county statistics, use the Anne Arundel County voter records reference. Safe at Home participants and voters approved for confidentiality receive address protection. A missing public address can be an intentional safety control, not a faulty entry.

Use Anne Arundel County people records only for lawful personal research. Never use a protected address, registry entry, or public filing to stalk, threaten, or harass anyone.

Request Anne Arundel People Records

The Maryland Public Information Act covers state and local agency records, but it does not override the special rules for courts, vital certificates, voter files, or sealed material. Anne Arundel County's PIA portal routes executive-agency requests for permits, planning, police, detention, elections, public works, and other departments. It asks for the record type, time span, names and search terms, known case or account details, desired fee handling, and optional supporting files.

The official request portal shows its topic-based route:

Anne Arundel County people search using the county PIA request portal

Selecting the right department and naming an existing record reduces delay. The first two hours of search and preparation are free. A custodian normally responds promptly and no later than 30 days. If more than ten working days are needed, the agency should give notice with the reason, expected time, and estimated fee range.

  1. Name the likely department and exact record type.
  2. Give a date range, names, address, and known incident, case, parcel, or document number.
  3. Ask for inspection or electronic delivery and state a fee limit.
  4. Save the submission receipt and any written denial or estimate.

Annapolis or Anne Arundel Records

An Annapolis mailing address does not always place a property inside city jurisdiction. Glen Burnie, Pasadena, Severna Park, Odenton, Crofton, and many other county communities are unincorporated. County government keeps county permit, police, and planning files. The City of Annapolis keeps its own department, board, ordinance, council, police, fire, and municipal permit records.

Confirm jurisdiction with parcel or GIS data before filing a request. Inside Annapolis, general city requests use the municipal PIA route, while city Police and Fire use separate forms. Birth and death records still route to Maryland health authorities, marriage and divorce records to the Circuit Court clerk, property assessment to SDAT, and 911 records to Anne Arundel County.

Permit history can also span two Annapolis systems. Applications submitted before January 10, 2023 remain in legacy eTRAKiT, while later work uses Citizen Self Service. County-jurisdiction permit and planning work uses Land Use Navigator, with the PIA portal as the fallback for complaint files and non-digitized packets.

Anne Arundel Historical People Search

Anne Arundel County was established in 1650, and surviving land books begin in 1653. Yet the record trail is not unbroken. The first State House burned in 1704, and the Maryland State Archives reports that all county records were ruined except the most recent court land records. Researchers should check the cataloged survival range for each series instead of assuming that every year exists.

Clerks created abstract books from 1786 through 1805 as insurance against later loss or destruction. Those summaries can preserve a party name and land reference when the fuller path is hard to follow. Other historical name-rich series include marriage-license microfilm from 1777, Certificates of Freedom, manumission records, probate indexes, land commissions, and civil or criminal docket indexes.

The Kuethe Library adds about 4,000 volumes plus manuscripts, maps, photographs, surname files, biographies, and cemetery material. Anne Arundel County Public Library cardholders can also reach licensed genealogy databases. Nonmembers pay $5 per day at Kuethe. For vanished properties, the Joan Cass Beck Collection holds historic-site, map, cemetery, and archaeological material by appointment.

Modern portals are only the newest layer. Move from a current parcel or case to its citation, then use the Archives series guide, library catalog, and in-person collections to carry the name back in time.
